Before you enter the home of Spencer Klomp, Happy Father Day words have been boldly written on the sidewalk by his oldest son Jeff; it's his "homemade" card to Dad. Your never to old for the bright colors of sidewalk chalk! Jeff's nephews and nieces pitch in and add a few words or pictures of hearts to express the love they have for their Papa.
Inside the home, a beautifully hand colored paper grocery sack has been decorated with crayons and markers by Kristin's boys Carson and Jaden. The sack is filled with fresh fruit and sweet corn and sits on the table scattered with cards from friends and family. Karen's card is hand decorated card covered with the sears lawn mower ads. "Happy Father's Day, and many MOWER". So clever!
Dad sat in the chair next to the unlit fire place with Karen at his side. Dad looked great. A big bouquet of balloons was displayed on the table. #1 DAD flew in the air with big yellow smiley faces. Dad was also smiling as we talked about good old movies like I Love Lucy and the Carol Burnett show. Kristin & Neal, Shaun & Karianne, Troy & Joan all sat around the living room catching up on our family events. (Patrick & Marie and Paul & Laurie had visited with Dad a few days before)
Shaun's boys Logan and Parker were busy playing with cousins Jaden and Dallin on the stairs. Parker played with balls and toys upstairs while Logan showed His grandparents how to count to 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 yeah!! Karianne is 6 months pregnant with their 3rd child and glows. Shaun and Karianne just moved into their first home in Millville, with an unfinished basement and a huge lawn it's perfect for their growing family
Cole and Jason practiced lifting hand weights...with Dallin attached, as a makeshift dumbbell. Dallin had a great time being lifted up by the teenagers and as his feet lifted from the ground a big grin crossed his face.
Karen and Cortney sat on the black floral couch and talked about her plans now that she graduated from high school. Cortney will attend Dixie in the fall. Jessica entertained the younger kids and took photos of family and played a song she wrote on the baby grand.
Kristin and Joan sat together on the couch while Troy took pictures of the sisters. Troy also took photos of Neal and Kristin's family with Dad and Karen with the Fathers day balloons floating in the back ground.
Troy and Joan gathered their kids Cortney, Jason, and Jessica and packed the van for a long trip back to St.George, it's hard living so far from family that is loved so much. Dallin planned to stay with Kristin and Neal a few days to play with cousins.
We all were invited to grab a banana or chocolate creamy popsicle before we all took turns giving hugs and kisses to Dad (grandpa, papa) Karen and each other and saying our good-byes. It was such a wonderful feeling to have family together in the home. Thanks so much to Dad and Karen for making everyone feel so loved.
It was a great family day.
